The Service and Food Workers Union has reached settlement with Spotless Services on the payment and application of a collective covering cleaners, food service staff and orderlies in our public hospitals.
This settlement resolves the dispute over payment of a minimum base rate of $14.25 agreed last year. The dispute included a 9 day lockout of 800 hospital service worker in July last year and a 24 hour national strike on April 2 of this year.
The settlement will see Spotless sign the collective and provides for the payment of the new wage rates within the next fortnight.
SFWU has withdrawn strike notices for rolling, 24 hour strikes that were to start on April 22nd.
SFWU Industrial Coordinator Shane Vugler says “Our members are
over the moon about this settlement and they will be looking
forward to their next few pay cheques.”
