EPMU members in the New Plymouth District Council’s parks division have agreed to a Strategic Pay scheme following mediation.
The scheme was opposed to EPMU members on the basis that it could curtail their ability to bargain collective pay increases in future, but included minimum increases of 5% and 4% over two years.
The deal also included increases to allowances and union members fought off an attempt by the company to increase the standard working week from 40 to 45 hours before overtime kicked in.
The EPMU represents 45 workers in the New Plymouth District Council parks division.
