The first three days of negotiations for the New Zealand Post collective were held last week and report back meetings to inform members are scheduled for the next fortnight.
Negotiations have not broken down but the current first offer by Post is not expected to meet members' expectations and is not being recommended by the EPMU negotiation team.
EPMU national postal and logistics organiser Anna Kenny says there is no way the negotiating team could have recommended Post's offer.
"What Post has offered is not good, it's not great and members will not be impressed given we have claimed 8% plus 8% for a 2 year deal.
"However we are still talking to Post and will use this time to make sure members are briefed about the issues raised by both sides at the talks. Once we have informed members we will take their advice back to negotiations and continue the talks."
Talks are due to resume on 28-29 May. The EPMU's negotiating team includes 27 elected delegates from Post sites across the country.
