Safe Air notified of Industrial action

19 August, 2008

Workers at Blenheim-based aircraft engineering firm Safe Air have given the company fourteen days notice of industrial action after reaching an impasse in bargaining.

The industrial action will consist of an overtime ban as well as a ban on off-site work and shift work with mediaton held yesterday and also scheduled for tomorrow.

EPMU organiser George Hollinsworth says the move is aimed at moving the bargaining along. "We've stalled at the table at an offer that doesn't meet members expectations and so they have voted to take industrial action."

"We're hopeful we can work through this during mediation," says Hollingsworth, "but if we can't the members are determined to stick with industrial action."

There are more than 200 EPMU members at Safe Air.
