EPMU and HWE Mining Pty Ltd in mediation

The EPMU and HWE Mining Pty Ltd will attend mediation on 23 August following agreement to do so on 28 July.

EPMU members at the Favona Decline gold mine have resumed normal work at the Waihi site until mediation occurs.

Newmont Gold, the owner of the Favona Decline gold mine, said in its recent newsletter that the EPMU had declined mediation, but this is not correct.

The EPMU will raise the issue of this misleading communication directly with Newmont Gold.

The EPMU has 55 members at the Favona Decline site. They are among 1200 workers the EPMU represents in coal and gold mining in New Zealand.
