Delegate Forums kick off this week

19 September, 2007

The next round of Delegate Forums kick off this week, with the first forum taking place in Wellington today then winding through the country until mid-October.

EPMU national education officer Ross Teppett says forums are an vital part of the union’s democratic structures.

“The forums are an important education opportunity for delegates to learn more about how to more effectively take part in union campaigns, build active citizenship on their worksite and provide input into the union’s democratic processes.

“This round we’ll be focusing on how we can grow the union and on giving members an update on key issues like KiwiSaver, workplace productivity and the future of manufacturing and how the upcoming election could impact on these.

“The forums have been a great initiative in terms of building an active membership and have helped delegates to work more effectively in their workplaces and across their industries. But to get the most out of these forums it’s crucial that we get a good turnout, and we’re hoping as many delegates as possible make the effort to attend.”

If you’re a delegate you should have received your invitation by now, but if you have any questions or problems call the Union Support Centre at 0800 186 466 or email education@epmu.org.nz .
